Golongan cendekiawan barat sering menyebut:
“When it comes to winning hearts and minds, most of the times it’s the small things that matters “.
Wallahua’lam.

Times during Ramadhaan when du’aa is accepted

by Shaykh Muhammad al-Malki

Question: What are the times when du’aa are accepted during Ramadaan? What specific du’aa should you say during the different parts of Ramadaan and on Laylatul-Qadr or the last 10 days of Ramadaan?

Answer: Wallaahi, the first issue: the times of du’aa are mentioned, they are:

  • between the Adhaan and the Iqaamah, in Ramadaan or other than Ramadaan between the Adhaan and Iqaamah there is du’aa mustajaab.
  • On Friday when the Imaam climbs the minbar – at the time he climbs the Minbar, that is the time for du’aa mustajaab.
  • In the last third of the night there is du’aa mustajaab.
  • For the person who is fasting, his whole day is a time of du’aa mustajaab.
  • The time of breaking the fast is a time of du’aa mustajaab.
  • When the rain is falling it is a time of du’aa mustajaab.
  • And du’aa is good at any time and that’s why Allaah تعالى said:

{And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me…} [Al-Baqarah 2:186]

So Allaah تعالى is telling us that He is closer to us and He wants us to make much du’aa, supplicating to Him. So du’aa is at any time, but there are times which are better than the others and which I mentioned, but this doesn’t mean that we don’t make du’aa at other times. No! We have to do it all the time; we have to keep in contact with Allaah all the time.

What is the best du’aa? The best du’aa is what has been mentioned in the Qur’aan and what the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم used to say. There is a book called Ar-Ruqaa ad-Du’aa or Ar-Ruqaa fil Kitaabi was-Sunnah by Shaykh Sa’eed ibn Wahf al-Qahtaanee. He gathered all the du’aa from the Qur’aan and from the authentic Sunnah, so I advise brothers and sisters to get that if it is translated, or they can read it directly from the text (Arabic).

And the best du’aa is what Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم used to say between the Rukn Yamaani and Hajr Aswad (i.e. between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone during tawaaf of the Ka’bah) :

{…Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!}
[Surah al-Baqarah 2:201]

And what he صلى الله عليه وسلم taught ‘Aishah to say in Laylatul-Qadr :

“O Allaah You are One who forgives and You love forgiveness so forgive me.”[1]

And what he taught her to say on ‘Arafah [2]:

And the du’aa for your parents:

{My Lord! Forgive me, and my parents…} [Nooh 71:28]

This is if they die as Muslims, but if they died as kuffar (disbelievers), you don’t seek forgiveness for them but you seek (forgiveness) for yourself and for your children as Allaah تعالى said in Surah al-Furqaan:

{…Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders of the Muttaqûn} [al-Furqaan 25:74]

It is better to ask Allaah تعالى what Allaah commanded his Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to ask Him as Allaah تعالى said to him:

{… and say: “My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.” } [Taa-Haa 20:114]

This is the only place where Allaah commanded the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to ask Him for something, and He told Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to ask Him formore Knowledge. So ask Allaah for more knowledge and Allaah تعالى will guide you. The best is also what the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم used to do in the night prayer:

Also:

And the like. Wallaahu A’lam.

This is a good article in response to those misguided Muslims who insulted other people’s beliefs and corrupted the holiness of Ramadhan. May Allah’s justice rain quick upon them.

Cow-head politics: Fear not, those who misrepresents Islam
by Azly Rahman

In the name of Allah Most Gracious Most Compassionate

1. By Al-‘Asr (the time).

2. Verily! Man is in loss,

3. Except those who believe (in Islâmic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma’rûf)which Allâh has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar)which Allâh has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allâh’s Cause during preaching His religion of Islâmic Monotheism or Jihâd, etc.).

— Surah AlAsr (Time)

For Muslims (those who submit to the Will of Allah) and those who are embarking on a journey of peace, Ramadan is a time for deep reflection and contemplation on the sufferings of the self and of others. It is a month in which the oftentimes arrogant, boastful, aggressive self retreats to this Inner Cave and work hard towards cleansing the body, the mind, the spirit, and the soul. It is a long but reflective journey Muslims believe must be taken.

The incident of a group of 50 Malaysians carrying a severed cow head, marching to the Selangor State Government’s Office is an example of a misrepresentation of Ramadan. It is a dangerous act that disrespects the holy month. Muslims should be outraged at the gross misrepresentation of Islam. One must read The Sepoy Rebellion during British India in order to understand where this might lead us to, in the worst case scenario. One must also not forget Malaysia’s Kampong Medan incident a few years back in order to understand the anatomy and chemistry of hate.

The “cow-head march” incident is a mindless act and Malaysians are becoming weary of these stunts that seem strange and timely and seem to become more and more hideous as we see the intensification of campaigns to take over this or that government. The phrase “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is Great) is abused. The greatness of Allah lies not in allowing a group of people to humiliate the religion of others. Allah’s greatness lies in the guide given to us to respect the religion of others, and to understand what the universal message of Islam is. Everything is good in the hands of the author of things, everything degenerates in the hands of Man, said the French philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau. In Islam, Evil is the work of Man, and Good comes from the Creator. Those who humiliate others are those who allow nafs amarrah (lowest/animalistic stage of the soul) to take charge of their actions.

Muslims should condemn the group of 50 and the authorities including the religious authorities should investigate if this is a seditious act against Islam.

I do hope that the protesters who abuse Ramadan ask themselves what is triggering their intent to march and what forces, if any, are behind their act. If necessary, the group can seek legal help in resolving this.

Non-Muslims need not fear the consequences of these antics or the action of the few who are misrepresenting Islam. You have the brotherhood and sisterhood of thinking and feeling Muslims who know what is acceptable and what is not in a multiracial society.

Menjadi harapan untukku menyaksikan
Umat yang bertuah ini kembali bersatu hati

Hilangkan yang keruh ambillah yang jernih
Tiada yang lebih berharga selain dari perpaduan

Lupakanlah segala persengketaan
Hubungkan kembali tali persaudaraan

Karena orang beriman itu bersaudara
Saling bertolong bantu berkasih mesra
Agar generasi kita di masa hadapan
Bangga dengan apa yang kita wariskan

Bersatu kita teguh
Bercerai kita roboh
Yang berat sama dipikul
Yang ringan dijinjing sama

Sepakat membawa berkat
Asas hidup bermasyarakat
Amalkan hidup yang sehat
Selamat dunia akhirat

Kasih sayang itu titi
Kasih sayang penghubung hati
Kasih sayang itu tali
Kasih sayang pengikat diri

Dari kasih timbul simpati
Dengan sayang ada persaudaraan
Kerana kasih ingin berbakti
Saling sayang maaf memaafkan

Kasih sayang itu baja
Kasih sayang penyubur jiwa
Kasih sayang itu penawar
Penguat cinta penghapus duka

Kasih manusia sering bermusim
Sayang manusia tiada abadi
Kasih tuhan tiada bertepi
sayang Tuhan janjinya pasti

Tanpa kasih sayang Tuhan
Tiada simpati tiada persaudaraan
Tanpa kasih sayang Tuhan
Tiada bakti tiada kemaafan

Kasih sayang itu titi
Kasih sayang penghubung hati
Kasih sayang itu tali
Kasih sayang pengikat diri

Kasih sayang pada semua
Kasih sayang sesama kita
Kasih sayang oh dunia
Moga selamat di akhirat sana

The Hypoxic Drive

THE HYPOXIC DRIVE

Based on ‘Keep Yourself Alive’ written by Brian May

I was told a million times on my first Respiratory day

That people with emphysema often breathe a different way
Receptors that react to PCO2 is the normal style
But if a person has had a high CO2 for a while
Body chemistry will cause those old receptors to decay
And so then the breathing triggers start to work another way

So that an extra high P02 is reason for alarm
Because a P02 that is high can cause a patient harm

The hypoxic drive
The hypoxic drive
Knowing how it works will help keep your patients alive

Well I’ve told a million nurses in a million different ways
That it’s P02 not FI02 that can cause malaise
So it’s perfectly OK to give 02 at a high flow
Just as long as 02 sats stay ninety-two or three plateau
And I’ve said a million times that if a patient’s turning gray
That you shouldn’t hesitate turning up 02 all the way
Because if you continue monitoring in the proper style
Then you’ll never have a problem never have a problem

The hypoxic drive
The hypoxic drive
You must know it if you want your patients to survive

The hypoxic drive
The hypoxic drive
Always keep the saturation below ninety-five
Hopefully this musical essay
Will keep you from sending somebody to their grave

The hypoxic drive
The hypoxic drive
Knowing how it works will help keep your patients alive

The hypoxic drive
The hypoxic drive
Many people use it to survive

The hypoxic drive
The hypoxic drive
Knowing how it works will help keep your patients alive

The hypoxic drive
The hypoxic drive
Many people use it to survive

Always keep the saturation below ninety-five
The hypoxic drive
The hypoxic drive
